SOME QUERIES RELATED TO GQM
SOME QUERIES RELATED TO GQM
The objective is to identify how you can save $3000 in one year.
This will allow you to purchase a personal computer. However, it is not
possible to earn additional money. Your income will be exactly the same as last
year. You will have to find cost savings. Sources of data are, for example,
your agenda, bank notes and salary receipts.
1. Define the GQM goal for this measurement program
according to the GQM goal template.
To save $3000 within one
year for purchasing a new personal computer will be the goal of the
Goal-Question Metric.
2. Define a set
of GQM questions related to the measurement goal.
Q1
|
What was the salary amount?
|
Q2
|
What
are the expenditures done with the received salary?
|
Q3
|
After
the expenditure done, what will be the left amount with me?
|
Q4
|
What
was the amount to be saved?
|
3. Check and
improve these questions according to the criteria of good GQM questions given
in step 4.
Q1
|
What will be the amount used for
regular personal needs?
|
Q2
|
What will be the amount left (saved) with me after all the
expenditures done?
|
4. Refine your
GQM Questions into metrics. Make a distinction between direct and indirect
metrics.
Q1. What will
be the amount used for regular personal needs?
M1: Total salary credited
M2: After spending for all the
important expenditures, the left amount
Q2. What will
be the amount left (saved) with me after all the expenditures done?
M1: The savings money.
M2: The amount going to be spend on
buying personal computer.

trial measurements from historical data to test the GQM tree you have
established.
